What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. My role is to help you feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout your journey.
Do you replace my doctor or midwife?
No. Doulas provide non-medical support and do not replace the care of a physician, midwife, nurse, lactation consultant, or other healthcare provider. My role is to complement your care team by providing continuous support and encouragement.
When should I hire a doula?
Many families hire a doula during pregnancy, but support can begin at any stage. The earlier we connect, the more time we have to build a relationship, discuss your goals, and prepare for your birth experience.
What birth settings do you support?
I support families planning hospital births, birth center births, and other birth settings where doula support is welcomed. My goal is to provide calm, compassionate support while working alongside your chosen care team.
Will you support medicated births or epidurals?
Absolutely. Every birth experience is unique. My goal is to support your choices and help you have a positive birth experience, whether you plan an unmedicated birth, epidural, induction, or other medical interventions.
Will you support cesarean births?
Yes. Birth does not always go according to plan, and cesarean births can be beautiful birth experiences as well. I provide support before, during (when permitted), and after birth to help families feel informed and cared for.
What if my birth does not go according to plan?
Birth can be unpredictable, and plans sometimes change. Whether your labor includes medical interventions, induction, epidural pain management, or cesarean birth, my role is to provide consistent support, encouragement, and information throughout your experience.
What postpartum support do you provide?
Postpartum support may include emotional encouragement, newborn care support, infant feeding education and encouragement, practical household assistance, meal preparation assistance, and guidance as families adjust to life with a new baby.
Do you provide breastfeeding or lactation support?
I provide basic lactation education, infant feeding support, and breastfeeding encouragement. If specialized lactation care is needed, I can help connect families with a qualified lactation consultant.
Do you offer virtual support?
Yes. Virtual support is available for pregnancy preparation, birth planning, postpartum encouragement, education, and ongoing communication.
What areas do you serve?
I serve families in San Antonio, Texas and surrounding communities. Please contact me to discuss your location and support needs.
What is your role if my partner will be present?
My role is not to replace your partner, but to support both of you throughout the birth experience. I can provide encouragement, comfort measures, information, and guidance so your partner can feel confident and involved while continuing to support you.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. I offer a free consultation so we can get to know each other, discuss your goals, and determine whether we would be a good fit for your birth journey.
Can faith-based support be included?
Yes. As a Christian doula, I am happy to provide faith-based encouragement and prayer when desired by the family. All families are welcomed and supported with respect, compassion, and individualized care.
How much do your services cost?
Pricing and support packages are currently being finalized. Please contact me for current availability and service information.
